About the Album
OGORUN is listed as an Afro-beat album on Shazam, and Audiomack tags it as Afrosounds. Hondread has built a catalogue around Yoruba language and spiritual themes, with earlier releases including the album Ifamurewa (2024), the EP Afro Tradition (2023) and the EP The Light (2025). The names of many of his songs, such as “IFA WAY” and “Odi meji”, draw on Ifá vocabulary. Òdí Méjì is one of the 16 principal Odù of Ifá; see our guide to the 16 principal Odù and what is Ifá.

Why It Matters for Yoruba Music
Hondread belongs to a wave of artists who bring Ifá and Yoruba spiritual imagery into contemporary sound. The tradition connects to the drums and chants described in our guides to Yoruba music, the talking drum and oríkì, and to the divinities in Ọ̀rúnmìlà and Ọ̀ṣun. Details of the production come from the album’s listing on Shazam.
